International Student Make-Up Sessions

The above sessions are for students who have missed their reguarly scheduled Mandatory Check-in session for International Students. Please sign up for a session as soon as possible. You MUST attend one of these check-in sessions to maintain your F-1 or J-1 status at the University of Michigan.

During this 2 hour presentation we will present valuable information and resources about living in Ann Arbor, health insurance requirements and options, and information regarding United States immigration rules for those in F1 or J1 status.

What You Must Bring With You to the Check-In:

1) Your original passport and I-20 or DS-2019.

2) Copies (black and white) of the following immigration documents. Make the copies after you have entered the US. Each photocopy must be on standard letter size paper (8 ½ x 11 inches).

• F1 or J1 U.S. visa (except Canadian citizens)
• I-20 (page 1) or DS-2019 (page 1)
• Passport Picture Page

3) A copy of the electronic I-94 form

• Please visit www.cbp.gov/I94 AFTER you have arrived in the U.S. to print this form
  

• Do not forget this document!! You cannot complete the check-in process without this document.

4) If you have F-2 or J-2 dependents (spouse and children) who traveled with you to the US, bring their original passports and I-20/DS-2019 forms, photocopies of their F or J visas, photocopies of page 1 of their I-20 or DS-2019 forms, and a copy of their electronic I-94 forms printed from www.cbp.gov/I94

The check-in session will last two hours, and you must attend the entire session. Please arrive approximately 15-20 minutes before the start time. Your dependents are not required to attend. Before you enter the check-in session, an IC staff member will look at your immigration documents. If you do not have the required documents, or if you arrive late, you will not be admitted to the session.
